ARTISTS AMONG US:
A CELEBRATION OF JOURNALISTS
Dec. 6, 2002
Cartoonist
Robb Armstrong stood before the audience - a pen in one hand and a microphone
in another - drawing Joe and Marcy and the kids, Sunny and JoJo, from
his comic strip "Jump Start."
For the rest of the night, Armstrong captivated an audience that had come out on a snowy evening in December for Artists Among Us.
For the second year in a row, media professionals who create beautiful art in the form of paintings, photography and prose showed off their works to the public. More than 20 media professionals participated, many of whom read from their works. PABJ also had a silent auction at the event, held this year at the African American Museum in Philadelphia.
PABJ saluted the late Earl E. Davis Jr., who designed the organization's logo and was a longtime friend of PABJ. On display were a painting and sculpture by Davis, who died in November 2000.
We invite you to view a list of the artists who participated and the works from which they read, and a photo gallery from the event.
Thanks to our sponsor, the Coca-Cola Bottling Co. of Philadelphia.
