PABJ 30TH ANNIVERSARY
A SUCCESS
Nearly
150 people turned out for PABJ's 30th anniversary celebration, including
many of its founders and early members, and Mayor Street. The
mayor read a proclamation making Nov. 19, 2003, PABJ day in Philadelphia.
The pioneers on hand included Acel
Moore, Reggie Bryant, Sam Pressley, Paul Bennett, Francine Cheeks, Elmer
Smith, J. Whyatt Mondesire, Sandra Long, Joe Davidson, Lamont Steptoe,
Kendall Wilson, Sharyn Sutton, Karen Warrington, Linn Washington, Vernon
Odom and Harry Gould. Chuck Stone sent remarks, and Claude Lewis was
unable to make it because his flight was delayed by bad weather.
NABJ President Herbert Lowe praised the organization and its contribution
to the founding of the national in 1975.
