PABJ AWARDS TWO $500 SCHOLARSHIPS

PHILADELPHIA, Aug. 30, 2001 -- The Philadelphia Association of Black Journalists has presented scholarships to two deserving high school students in the Philadelphia area.

Scholarships totaling $500 each were awarded to Tiffany Nicole Brown and Stephanie Joy Tisdale.

Brown is a graduate of Chester High School and plans to study journalism at Gwynedd Mercy College. She attended Freedom Theater for two semesters and is a member of the Philadelphia Adventist Church.

Tisdale is a graduate of Central High School in Philadelphia and plans to attend Howard University. She is a winner of the Philadelphia Inquirer's Acel Moore scholarship and is a contributing writer to Philly Word Magazine. She was a host of the WDAS-AM teen forum show "The Way It Is." She is also a member of d'Zert Club's Teen Summit 1000 Group, and has traveled with the group to Senegal, Gambia and Ghana.
